More pictures from our stop at Onset. Cruising around in the car (dinghy). Took a ride under this bridge and up the river a bit looking for fuel filters.

Random house by the river, it looked nice:

Wicket’s island, in the middle of Onset harbor, is for sale. It’s 4.8 acres and $2.6 extra super large:

Moon rise the night before we departed (still learning how to use this camera, sorry):

Looking South East across the West end of the Cape Cod Canal. There’s a tugboat passing by just to the right of the moon’s reflection on the water:

The next morning we were up at 0415, ate a light breakfast, and readied the boat for departure. We were traveling with two boats from Canada, Les and Kim on Prospector and Ralph on Tyler J. They were the nicest people you would ever want to meet, THANKS GUYS! So with coffee made and engine warmed up we departed the anchorage at 0500 bound for…Gloucester…or somewhere, we weren’t really sure… High tide was just past 0400 so the East bound flood was just starting, it propelled us through the canal at just under 10 kts (yes that’s fast)! There were several boats heading the same direction. Anyway, here are some sunrise shots as we approached and transited the canal, as well as some from the East end as we squirted out of the canal into Cape Cod Bay.

Heading through the channel toward the canal. The Massachusetts Maritime Academy is just below the wind generator:

Canal control center:

Heading under the West end rail road bridge. The boat to the right was from Annapolis MD.

I don’t know why I find sunrises so spectacular but I do, and they are! It’s like being a kid on Christmas morning, every morning! OMG OMG OMG another sunrise!!!! It doesn’t get old!

Looking out of the East end of the canal into Cape Cod Bay:

I think this was the last can inside the canal. It was still an hour and half until max flood and there was a real nice current flowing:

Training vessel at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy:

We have some more pictures heading up the coast of Massachusetts to Maine, we’ll put those up a little later.
