Raccoon Cay

Posted by on February 16, 2015

We are still in the Jumentos, island hopping and having as much fun as we can. Right now we are anchored off of Raccoon Cay but will soon head south to Ragged Island for the next blow. After this next weather front comes through we will start our journey back north and east in preparation for our jump to the Turks and Caicos.

We have one other update with lots of pictures but the cell signal is very weak here and we’re getting low on data, so that will have to wait.

Our private beach at Raccoon Cay:

We had an issue at Water Cay with a pest of a sea turtle. We are now at Raccoon Cay and a four foot sea turtle just showed up under our boat. I hope he leaves before bedtime. Very breezy today so the pictures are not so clear but believe me, it’s a turtle:

We went hiking up the coast to find a charted “blue hole”. Along the way we found this wall, a well and some ruins that were not charted.

Also found this lone cactus:

We eventually found the “blue hole” that was a bit more brown than blue:

We are having a great time down here in the Jumentos/Ragged Islands. We attended a Valentines day feast at Hog Cay just a few days ago, and took lots of pictures. We will update when we get better cell signal. Until then…

That top pic of the dingy & boat is absolutely gorgeous. And the stone wall is very interesting… think of all the toil someone went to & I wonder what they were trying to hedge in, or out? Some really neat stuff!
