Every Little Bit Counts

Posted by on November 20, 2013

Although not very interesting I did make progress today. The weather here has been unpredictable so it is difficult to get outside work done. I gambled today and decided to push forward with fixing the stripe at the water line and also cleaning up the prop and shaft.

I sanded, wiped down and solvent washed the stripe so I can repaint the entire thing. After that I put two coats of epoxy primer on the area that needed adjustment:

Primer came out better than expected. Next decent weather day I will sand and paint the entire stripe:

I removed all the barnacles and crud from the propeller and shaft, then cleaned and primed that as well. Once everything is ready, I will rough up the bottom and apply one coat of paint to everything. Ready for a new zinc and some antifouling paint:

One step closer (it’s exciting to us)!
